Senior House Cricket

Some of the Julius boys came up against a very tough Flower’s house
side in their first round of house cricket. We only had 3 cricket
players in the team but the big boarders all played cricket, so we
knew it would be a grind. However, the lads stepped up to the
challenge and Julius set an impressive total of 157 runs in their 15
overs when Flower’s put them into bat. In this innings, George Coull
scored a stunning 112 not out, with good support from Simon Brown, who
made 24 and Josh Wheelans who made 18. Julius followed this up with a
stellar effort in the field, taking some beautiful catches and Josh
Wheelans taking 3 wickets in 1 over. Unfortunately Flower’s house
batting attack proved too strong and the boarders chased down the runs
in the last over. Awesome effort from everyone involved though, coming
this close to beating Flower’s is no mean feat. We’ll take out the
whole competition next year instead.

Julius House Wins Non-Champ Cup

Like every year, Julius House was once again dominant on the athletics
field earlier in Term 1. Dominant in terms of house spirit and
participation that is. This year we saw all the boys out on upper,
donning their bright white rugby jerseys and singlets, giving it
everything for the house, which was great to see. There were a few
star performances from the boys which really got the Julius crowd
excited and kept the house points pouring in. Our own athletics
prodigy Sam King won several sprint races and came second in the
4x400m relays with Harry O’Neill, Jayavi Premaratne and George Coull,
Matthew Todd won the hammer throw, Simon Brown placed second in the
javelin, Zach Gallagher placed 3rd in the 1500m and of course the
senior relay team came a humble 7th. But the best thing that came out
of the day was Julius won the overall school non-championship
competition, earning the boys a pizza shout in the process. Good job
fellas. Shout out to James Wong for the sprint coaching too.
